Johanna has an energetic presence and is adaptable to facilitating and coaching in various workplace cultures in Australia and worldwide. She has many years in successfully facilitating actionable learning and development with corporate, government groups/teams, and individuals throughout the Asia Pacific region and beyond. She is an International Coaching Federation (ICF) Accredited Coach. She has experience in one-to-one coaching and incorporates powerful coaching skills when facilitating learning to generate inclusive learning cultures. As an independent contractor, she manages a wide portfolio of clients and has experience as a client manager for Playback Theatre Sydney whose story-based communication services are employed by various professional sectors in Australia. She is passionate about supporting professionals in learning and developing authentic and empathetic communication skills that create cultures willing and able to collaborate better. She contributes a depth of knowledge, a wealth of experience, and a mature but energetic presence to learning and development.
Training Experience
Johanna has delivered one- and two-day Presence training for culturally diverse leadership groups in the APAC region for over 15 years. She has facilitated dynamic learning for leaders in the room, on Zoom, Teams, and Webex. She partnered to deliver training for the Australian-based ROAR People as part of their Women and Leadership Program. This program explores ‘Leadership I.D.’(identity) within gender dynamics. She continues to design and deliver numerous training programs for teams and coaching programs for individuals to support and strengthen their communication and collaboration capabilities. Johanna co-authored a published chapter in Facilitating with Stories: Ethics, Reflective Practice and Philosophies (Cambridge Scholars Publishing) Chapter titled – Two Worlds Collide – Exploring the use of playback theatre in organizations part of which explores generating psychological safety.

Business Experience
Johanna’s business experience started with her Massage practice business, Body Language, which was incorporated into a Health centre and operated for many years. Her love of improvisational theatre led her to pivot toward a business in training teams and facilitating large group dialogues with Playback Theatre Sydney. This unique improvisational theatre company delivers events and training to corporate, government, and NFP sectors, using story-based improvisation to facilitate specific dialogue around particular issues. She initiated a focus on Communication services for Corporates and a theatre school. She also oversaw two rebranding initiatives, started a newsletter and a blog, and went on to manage key accounts and client liaison. She also has experience in supporting multiple businesses in coaching leaders and teams in Sales, Leadership, Authentic Communication, and Pitching and she regularly attends business seminars and training.
Theater Experience
- 35 years performing with Playback Theatre Sydney. A story-based improvisational theatre practice where the focus is on the ensemble to work seamlessly as a team using spontaneity to co-create theater in front of their audience.
- Taught and performed Commedia Dell’arte in Sydney high schools. Conceived ideas, developed scripts, performed, and presented.
- Performed in the show Swan Laid with Theatre Sol, which was produced locally and toured overseas in Canada, the US, and Japan. Won awards including Best Show, People’s Choice, and Best Director.
